Teaching Philosophy
I strive to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment in which
students develop statistical reasoning through real-world data, active learning,
and computational tools. My teaching emphasizes conceptual understanding,
clear communication, and reproducible analysis using R and other modern
statistical software.

Course Coordinator — MATH 1500: Introductory Statistics
As the course coordinator for MATH 1500 at Ohio University, I oversee
instructional planning and coordination across multiple course sections to
promote consistency in teaching, assessment, and student learning.
- Train and mentor graduate teaching assistants
- Organize regular instructional meetings with teaching assistants
- Prepare semester schedules and coordinate course logistics
- Prepare and update the common course syllabus
- Train instructors in the use of online course and homework platforms
- Respond to teaching, assessment, and course-management questions

Course Development
I develop instructional materials that connect statistical concepts with
computational practice and real-world data. My teaching emphasizes active
learning, reproducible analysis, statistical communication, and project-based
experiences.
- Designed and developed STAT 244SC — Computational Statistics at Mount Holyoke College and served as its inaugural instructor
- Developed R-based laboratory assignments using real-world health datasets
- Developed NHANES-based projects for teaching statistical methods

Student Mentoring
I mentor students through project-based learning in statistics, data science,
and computational mathematics. Students work with real-world datasets while
developing skills in statistical programming, visualization, modeling,
reproducible research, and scientific communication.
